Description: In April 2012, President Obama signed into law the Jumpstart Our Business Startups ("JOBS") Act, federal legislation designed "[t]o increase American job creation and economic growth by improving access to the public capital markets for emerging growth companies." The JOBS Act amends the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended, in various respects. This session explores the overall content of the JOBS Act focusing most intently on its application to business organizations—private and public—organized or operating in Tennessee.
