Family Law Forum 2012

Military Divorce and Psychological Evaluations
Description: The centerpiece of the TBA Family Law Section’s annual Family Law Forum this year will be presentations on two issues of critical importance to Family Law attorneys.

Mark Sullivan, a nationally renowned Military Divorce and Family Law expert, and author of the American Bar Association’s practice treatise in this area, will be presenting three separate modules on the special concerns that arise when one or both parties are serving or have served in the Armed Forces, from dividing military pensions, to military benefits, to unique parenting issues. Mr. Sullivan is the “go-to” expert.

Dr. Kathryn Steele, will provide an extensive review of the role of neuropsychology in family law, how to use psychological tests and reports to bolster your own case and attack the other side’s position. She will offer details on the types of professionals involved, their particular strengths and weaknesses, and the types of evaluations that are performed and how these evaluations should, and should not, be used at trial.

This year’s Family Law Forum will also include a review of recent case law, including the impact of Gonsewski v. Gonsewski, as well as a "heads up" on 2012 legislation.
